Almaria Pearl Heavy Runner-Lupo “Naa minimakii”
Born July 8, 1950 on the Blood Reserve to Pearl c. Kulin (Heavy Runner) and Nelson Small Legs Sr. Pearl was raised by her extended maternal family, Charles & Louise Panther Bone. Pearl was the baby of the family and was very spoiled and loved very much by her siblings and family.
Pearl was adventurous , she was full of life, love and kindness. She moved to Calgary to seek opportunities for employment and schooling. Through out her travels Pearl made many friends, whom she remained in contact with.
Pearl relocated to Seattle WA where she met her adopted family, the late Rosabelle First Rider-Tyson, Ken Tyson and their children. Pearl was welcomed into the family as a daughter, sister and aunt. She loved her Tyson family very much. Pearl met her soul mate in Seattle, John Lupo. They were married and settled in making Seattle their home. After John’s passing Pearl decided to remain in Seattle with the promise that she would return home to live.
Pearl was diligent in keeping contact with her friends, especially her dear friend Rosie Reyes. Pearl had friends from all walks of life and nationalities. She embraced her husband’s culture and lifestyle and also practised her nitstipi ways.
Pearl had four beautiful children and nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren whom she cherished and loved very deeply. Pearl was blessed with a large extended family and loved to visit with them. She always expressed her love of family and cherished her times spent with them. Pearl will be remembered with loving devotion, helpfulness, compassion, humour, generosity and her fabulous colourful outfits.
She came in with a gust of wind and left on a breeze. Our grief will be eased to know that she will always be with us. Her pink elephant popcorn and her Coffee Crisp bars and the smell of Oil of Olay will bring a tear and smile but as always she made you feel so special. Rest in peace sister.
Left to mourn her loss and celebrate her life are her children Charlotte Heavy Runner and Todd Heavy Runner; her siblings Patricia Tailfeathers (Buz), Murray Small Legs, Tina Little Mustache, Kellie Tippins, Joey and Robert Tyson; niece Christal Singer (Danny); her grandchildren Carlin, Ashley Heavy Runner, Devan, Gabrielle, Taylor and Jayden Cousins, Trey Heavy Runner, Brady Heavy Runner; aunts Christine Shade, Mae Singer; her cousins Lucy Russell and Leroy Heavy Runner (Harriet) and her beloved Mountain Horse family; nephews Jon (Nipper) & Crystal & children; Cullen, Raven, Chevy & Junior Tailfeathers, Jamie Tailfeathers & greatnephew, Zander Tailfeathers.
