DORAL LAMAR LYBBERT, was born July 2, 1955 to Daniel Harden Lybbert and Grace Palmer. Except for the two years he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Uruguay and Paraguay Mission, Doral loved and lived in Glenwood until his passing on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the age of 70 years.
Doral spent his life devoted to his Father in Heaven. He dedicated his life to giving service to his community, his friends, and family. He selflessly gave assistance to anyone who needed it and never asked for anything in return. Doral was passionate about and loved his work as a farrier, a meat cutter, a auctioneer and 1st aid instructor. He loved cowboy poetry, horses, and adored his family. As a man of many trades, he was the Mayor of Glenwood for over 13 years and on village council for many more. He was also the Fire Chief in Glenwood for 40 years along side being the scout master or involved with scouting for 40 years.
Doral passed away unexpectedly after recovering from a lengthy illness. He is survived by Cheryle, his wife of 46 years; 6 children, Christine Nilsson (John), Dezlie Lybbert, Carman Tillery (Tige), Dennis (Ginny) Lybbert, Clinton (Jade) Lybbert and Debbie (Joe) Creed; 30 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was a very loved and respected man, and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 13th, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenwood, Alberta. Friends may meet the family from 10:15-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at the church following the interment.
