Louise Lybbert (84) of Cardston, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, and was reunited again with her handsome Cowboy, sweetheart and husband of 58 years, Dale Lybbert, who passed away January 21st, 2023. She is survived by their children; Audra Foggin (Claude Masse), Deedra (Matt) Norton, Aaron (Kristin) Lybbert, as well as eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
On December 4th, 1940, in Marwayne, Alberta, Louise was welcomed as the second of four daughters in the Alvin and Isabel (Sonely) Parker family. Because of her pleasing attitude and loving personality, Louise grew into a young woman who was loved by many. Like her family, she knew the importance of hard work, having fun, and loved showing and riding horses.
Louise attended the Archer Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Lamont, Albera and completed her Medical, Surgical, Obstetric and Pediatric Nursing courses in October of 1962. She loved being a registered nurse and loved serving others in need. Her passion was in the Labor and Delivery wards and was admired for her knowledge and leadership skills.
Because both the Parker and Lybbert families shared the same interest of attending rodeos, Louise met the love of her life, Dale, at the Lea Park Rodeo and they were subsequently married on June 6th, 1964.
As a child, Louise had an understanding and love for her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, which enabled her to exercise faith and join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 25, 1964. She loved the principle of eternal marriage and was sealed to Dale in the Cardston Alberta Temple on the 29th of June 1965. Louise has always been a faithful member of the church and has served in callings too numerous to mention.
Louise worked as Head Nurse on the maternity ward in the Lloydminster hospital, while Dale worked for Weiller and Williams Livestock Firm in Lloydminster. They also began their own ranching business in Marwayne, Louandale Ranch, and they took immense pride in raising quality Registered Quarter Horses and purebred Simmental Cattle. They also were involved in embryo transplanting with their Simmental and Maine-Anjou cattle.
Family is always a priority for Louise and Dale, and they were delighted as each of their children, Audra, Deedra, and Aaron joined their family. A home that was full of love and always welcoming to friends and family, was paramount to Louise and Dale. Their home was a refuge for many, including their cherished foster daughter, Claudia. To provide the best opportunities for their children, in 1985, Louise and Dale moved to Southern Alberta where they continued to ranch in the Cardston Community.
Several years later, in 1997, Louise and Dale moved to Cochrane, Alberta where she managed the Calgary LDS Bookstore and Dale managed cattle at one of the Copithorne Ranches. She loved their 10 years spent in Cochrane and often spoke highly of the friends and experiences that were made there. After retirement, and with a desire to be closer to family, Louise and Dale returned to Cardston in 2006.
Retirement looked different for them, however Louise never complained or regretted her lot in life and her selfless support as a caregiver to her husband. This was a testimony of her love for him during his last years in mortality.
Her consistent testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is an amazing example to those that knew her, including her husband, children, and grandchildren. Louise believed that her actions testified of her beliefs and her acts of charity to others is a legacy to those she interacted with and those who she loved. She lived her life after the example of the Savior and loved people easily and demonstrated the importance of hard work, love, and service to others.
Recently, her grandchildren were asked for adjectives that described their grandmothers traits and characteristics. Some of the responses included; nurturing, selfless, loyal, witty, generous, jokester, steadfast, patient, understanding, Christlike, honest, and sincere. May we honor Louise by following her example and emulate these wonderful traits.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, South Hill Chapel, (950 Main St.) Cardston, AB), on Saturday, January 4th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
