VALJEAN DUNCAN MACDONNELL
VAL MACDONNELL, beloved husband of Marjorie MacDonnell (his wife of nearly 70 years), passed away peacefully in Cardston, Alberta on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the age of 90 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Fontella MacDonnell and his brothers Kelvin and Greg. He was survived by his brother, Gaylord “Mac”, and his sons Ryan (Terri) and Kendall (Kris). He leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
Val’s final years were devoted to his family, spending time visiting his wife, Marj, and her caregivers at Lee Crest, while also enjoying friendly gardening competitions with his neighbour, Don. He was well-known for his exceptional handyman skills, storytelling, and love of fishing. His family will always remember his home-cooked meals, fresh garden vegetables, and a cupboard filled with cookies.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Justin Low and to the nurses and staff at the Cardston Hospital for their professional care and compassion.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A Private Family Service will be held.
