IVAN WADE MANY FINGERS, Ni’tohkitόpii (Lone Rider) of the Blood Reserve (Fish Creek Community), passed away suddenly at the Cardston Hospital on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the age of 43 years. Wade was the first born to Ivan and Verna Many Fingers, he was born on July 7, 1977 at 7:00 pm, at the Cardston Hospital.
Wade lived a good life with his parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts & uncles, he was loved by all; his cousins were like his siblings whom he grew up with, and spent a lot of time with them at gramma’s house. Wade and Cary were born 8 months apart; he was a big brother to Stacey, Bryan, Sonya and his younger cousins, and referred to him as an all around good guy. Wade enjoyed horseback riding, all kinds of music; and played hockey with the Cardston Minor Hockey Association.
He attended school at the Cardston schools, from Elementary onto High School, then pursued an IT Computer Technology Program. Whenever we needed help, Wade was there, he was our computer expert.
Places of employment: Leafy Spurge Project with Blood Tribe Lands Department; Construction Contracting; and worked around their ranch with his dad and brother Terry. Wade also helped Grampa Frank, Uncle Buck and Many Fingers’ cousins, around the Many Fingers’ Ranch.
Wade had a sense of humour, and had many stories to make you chuckle or put a smile on your face. He enjoyed spending time with his cousins/buddies, Todd Soup, Ernie, Jimmy, Wes, Byron (Bullet), Colin Many Fingers, Lee Boy Melting Tallow, Blaine Tailfeathers, Billy and late Blaine Wadsworth, Darryl Russell, late Jarvis Wells, Randolph Gros Ventre Boy, Ernest Day Chief, also the guys from the Waterton Hutterite Colony and numerous other buddies. Wade grew up with his cousin, Willie Shade whom was like a brother to him.
He enjoyed annual family trips to California, Nevada, Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, B.C., and left us with many happy memories to look back on.
Grampa Frank named Wade Ni’tohkitopii (Lone Rider), in reference to Frank’s long boat trip to Australia, where Grampa Frank was one of the rodeo participants, and led him to win the all around championship trophy.
Wade was kind hearted, generous, thoughtful, and caring; he would give his shirt off his back to someone who needed help. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to the care and well-being of mom, siblings and especially dad, whom he loved dearly and always making sure they were okay.
