Donna Fay McFeeters (née Marsden), 86, of Cardston, Alberta, peacefully passed away on December 3rd, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Donna was born on October 31st, 1938, to Marvin Joseph Marsden and Katherine Doris Morrow in Cardston, Alberta.
An independent and vibrant personality from the beginning, Donna truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She was generous, loving, and kind. She enjoyed crafting, baking, painting, and photography.
While most of Donna’s life was spent in the Calgary and Southern Alberta area, she had special memories with her first husband’s (Adrian Lewis) McFeeters family on the First Nations Cold Lake Reserve in Northern Alberta. This is where she learned to bake Bannock and gain a lifelong connection to Indigenous culture.
Through determination and perseverance, Donna fulfilled her enduring desire for a nursing career at the age of 55. She loved people and was a great caregiver who impacted many families.
Donna retired in 2003 with her second husband (David Atfield) to Magrath, Alberta. In retirement, Donna had time to pursue her love of painting and photography. She would spend many hours exploring the St. Mary’s Reservoir and surrounding area.
Donna especially will be remembered for her wicked sense of humor and fiery spirit that served to strengthen those around her.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, brother Patrick, and daughter Michelle. She is survived by her brother Jay, her sisters Barb and Carol, her children Melodie, Roger, Kevin, Lyn, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Inglewood Community Hall in Calgary, AB on January 18th, 2025 from 12:30pm- 4:00pm.
A special thanks to The Good Samaritan Society – Lee Crest facility and staff for their care and support.
As Donna was a lifelong animal lover, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.

“She is Gone”
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday

You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
David Harkins
