Philip Michael Mistaken Chief, 27, passed away on September 18th, 2024, in Vancouver, BC where he resided for many years. Philip was born March 17th, 1997, in Lethbridge, Alberta to Randi Pierzchala and Dickie Mistaken Chief. Philip lived many different places growing up including Victoria BC, Inuvik NWT, Kelowna BC, Ottawa ON, Hazelton BC and Vancouver BC. Philip lived with his partner, Isaac, who watched out for him and kept him as safe as he could during his time in Vancouver. Philip touched and impacted many lives during his time here. He loved to garden; berry pick and even in his struggles he still carried the humanity to care for the people around him. Philip was a fierce advocate for the people around him and showed radical resistance to a world that often leaves people behind. No one’s story would go unheard in the presence of Philip.
He was a kind, loving and gentle soul.
Philip was so much like his late great grandfather Philip; they shared the same personality traits as well as the same birthday. When Danni and Philip were very young and Philip was learning to walk, he was a wobbly walker, he would just plop where ever he stood when he was tired of trying to walk which was mostly on top of Danni. Danni would be sitting on the floor doing her own thing and here comes Philip walking straight for her and would just lay on top of her smiling while Danni would be crying trying to push him off of her. Eventually she would get away from him and she would run into the bedroom and he would be not far behind her smiling his slobbery smile. He did this every chance he could. He loved his sister Danni so much!
Philip is survived by his Parents; Randi Pierzchala and Dickie (Katherine) Mistaken Chief, maternal grandparents; Kathy and Mike (deceased) Pierzchala and his paternal grandparents; Bert and Bella Mistaken Chief. Paternal grandmother; Murielle Bull Shields. Sisters; Danni Rae and Tatum. Brother; Tyson. Uncles; Darren Pierzchala, Jerimiah (Oana) Bull Shields, Radford Healy and Josh Healy. Aunties; Marilee Mistaken Chief, Kim (BJ) Healy, Heather (Norbert Jr) Black Water, Reesa (Joseph) Healy, Mel (Bill) Healy, Jill Mistaken Chief and Roberta Mistaken Chief. Philip had several great uncles, aunts and cousins.
Philip is predeceased by his grandfather Mike Pierzchala and great grandfather Philip Mistaken Chief. He also has several family members from both sided of the Pierzchala and Mistaken Chief family.
We apologize for anyone we have missed.
A memorial service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston, Alberta on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place.
