Teesh Ansh Shucheme Charelle Morigeau (Nitsikitsstakiaakii: “One Offering Woman”) was born on July 22, 2003 in Missoula, Montana. She was the first child of Galena Big Head-Brave Rock and Brandon Morigeau. She was a dual member of the Blood Tribe and the Flathead Indian Reservation. She passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta on November 15th, 2022 at the tender age of 19 years. Her name means “Sweet Baby Angel” in the Salish language of her father’s ancestry. Teesh’s Blackfoot name was given to her by the late Alvin Cross Child. Nitsikitsstakiaakii makes reference to the final staff that is offered at the Belly Buttes at the end of the sacred Horn Society ceremony at Ako’katsin, the big camp of the Blood Reserve. Her younger brother Joseph Morigeau was born when Teesh was only 14 months old. The two were inseparable and were often referred to as “two peas in a pod!”. Teesh spent her early childhood with her parents on the Flathead Indian Reservation living in Ronan and St. Ignatius, Montana. Her mother, Galena, passed away when she was only three years old. Teesh was raised by her father and step-mother, Brittney Hitchcock. She was completely in love with her two additional siblings, Jackson and Madelyn Morigeau. In fact, this past summer, Teesh ensured that both Jackson and Maddie accompanied the family for an epic trip to Disneyland. It was on this trip that many memorable moments were experienced between Teesh and her 3 younger siblings: Joseph, Jackson and Maddie. Teesh graduated with the Class of 2022 from Kainai High School. In her years attending KHS, she created many close friendships and special relationships with her fellow classmates and KHS staff. Teesh was currently attending Red Crow Community College in Standoff, Alberta. One of the special qualities of Teesh was that she always remembered birthdays. She would often go out of her way to make birthday cakes and sing Happy Birthday! She also loved visiting friends and relatives. Teesh had the opportunity to travel with her grandma, Ramona, to Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C.… mainly to watch NBA games! One of her greatest strengths was her willingness to speak out for those who did not have a voice. She had a deep sense of empathy for all those around her. Her loving nature and caring ways will be missed by all who loved her dearly. Teesh leaves behind her younger siblings: Joseph, Jackson and Madelyn Morigeau and her step-mother, Brittney Hitchcock. Her paternal grandparents: Douglas (Robin) Morigeau and Joyce Peone. Her paternal uncles and aunt: Tyler and Torrey Morigeau; Sarah (Samuel) Dempsey. Her maternal Grandparents: Ramona Big Head and Mark Brave Rock. Her maternal uncles and aunties: Shawnee and Aloni Brave Rock; Oshana (Jorge) Christiansen, Jesse (Lennie) Brave Rock, Gloria (Saya), Starly, Letisha and J-Man Brave Rock. And, her special friend Seth Red Crow. She also leaves behind numerous cousins and relatives who loved her dearly. She is also survived by her paternal great-uncles and aunties: Calvin, Curtis and MaryRose Morigeau. Her maternal great-uncles and aunties: Floyd (Maxine); Leonard, Ivyanne, and Emile Big Head; Jennifer (Terry) Ivins; Yvonne (Don) Shouting; Faron and Wanda Brave Rock. Teesh was pre-deceased by her parents: Galena Big Head-Brave Rock and Brandon Morigeau. Her uncles Carl Brave Rock and Christopher Morigeau. Her baby cousin, Neomiah Dempsey. Her paternal great-grandparents, Carl and Irene Morigeau. Her great-grandfather, Carl Morigeau proudly served in the United States Navy. She was also pre-deceased by her maternal great-grandparents: Peter Big Head and Gloria (Jack) Red Crow; Florence and Wilfrid Brave Rock. She was also pre-deceased by her paternal great-uncle, Kenny Morigeau. Her maternal great-uncles and aunties: Shawn, PJ and Bonnie Big Head; Gino, Galena, Dennis, Ernest James, and Gary Brave Rock. Teesh is also a direct descendant of Natohkyiaakii – “Holy Bear Woman” who survived the 1870 Baker Massacre. Her Blackfoot relatives are: Big Heads, Brave Rocks, Scouts, Wells, Bare Shin Bones, Low Horns, Eagle Plumes, Old Shoes, Long Time Squirrels, Bloods, Pace, Eagle Childs, Many Fingers & Turning Robes.
The Wake Service will be held on Monday, November 21 at the Tanner Senior Center, Cardston (260 - 1 St. W) from 6:00 pm - 12:00 am. The Funeral Service will continue at the Tanner Senior Center on Tuesday, November 22 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Blood Band Cemetery.
