On Sunday afternoon June 30, 2024, Corwin Lee Morning Bird passed away at Rocky View Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, sadly at the age of 52 years old.
Corwin was born in Cardston, Alberta on August 27, 1971 to the late Rosalita Morning Bird and Bernie Hiens, but was raised by late Mary Vielle and late Harvey Morning Bird on the Blood Reserve in Southern Alberta, along with his late older sister Toni Morning Bird and younger brother Raymond Morning Bird. Corwin was at the young age of 19 years old when he met his late wife Janice Plaited Hair, who was also the mother to their three beautiful daughters that he was survived by, named Leah Plaited Hair (eldest), Jessie Morning Bird (middle), and Amber Plaited Hair (youngest). He is also survived by his auntie Joyce (Garry) Bird and mother-in-law Shirley Plaited Hair (Lloyd).
Corwin was a very Loving husband, wonderful father and for many years provided for his family working with Alberta’s Wildland Fire Fighters, Type 2 crew, in which he was very proud of. When he wasn’t on the fireline he would often worked with Blood Tribe Public Housing and enjoyed giving back to the community. Therefor Corwin will be missed by many, but rejoining in heaven with his late wife and our Father, the Creator.
Family and friends can join together for one last goodbye at the Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Thursday, July 11 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will also be held at the Senator Gladstone Hall on Friday, July 12 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off.
