It brings us great sadness to announce the passing of a loving husband, uncle, brother and father, HARLEY “DUKE” MORNING BIRD of the Blood Reserve. He was called home by our Creator on January 2nd, 2016 at the age of 61 years. He was born in Cardston, Alberta on July 7th, 1954, the son of the late Harvey Morning Bird and Mary Vielle.
Harley “Duke”went to school in Lower Stand Off and Granum in his younger years. His passion was playing hockey with the Stand Off Canadians, then later on playing with the Stand Off Black Hawks. He had numerous talents and was particularly gifted in carpentry and mechanics. He worked and enjoyed many different jobs - especially at Kainai Industries, Agriplex, harvest time work, and working for Stanley Eagle Bear.
Harley “Duke” leaves behind to mourn his loving wife, Bernadine Mountain Horse; his children - Robin (Jolane), Timothy (Amanda), Melvin and Jack; his grandkids - Dakota, Ross, Cohen, Tabitha, Renae, Miley, Calijah, Sharlee, Tiniko, Tyrelle, Ozzy, and Zeke; his great grandkids - Mia, Kingston, Kingsley, Kingslen, Kyrdese, Anson, Jorie, Cashius; his sisters - Paula, Diane (John), Carol (Henry), Joyce (Gary), Rosie (Marty), Margaret (Dale); his brother Gordon; two special surviving aunties - Annie Good Dagger and Theresa Vielle; uncles Alphonse Bird and Harrison Shade; extended families include: Crop Eared Wolf, No Runner, Tall Man, Crow Chief, Eagle Speaker, Oka - of the Blood Reserve and Little Chief from the Siksika Nation. The family apologizes for any names missed.

A Wake Service will be at the Old Saipoyi Gym, Stand Off on Sunday, Jan. 10th from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. and continue all night at Bernadine’s residence.
