Margaret was born November 3, 1935 in Cardston. She will be remembered for her poise, self-assuredness and dignity. This is what was said of her while she was schooling in Vancouver as an adult student. She was always well dressed and well groomed. We would have to wait patiently as she would re-plait her white braids if she were going out. She was quiet, pleasant, and very generous, always giving gifts and gifts of service, (she visited many hospital patients in her lifetime and knitted many booties to keep their feet warm). She was humorous (especially as she joked with her sisters), thoughtful and very spiritual. Willing to share her beliefs and wisdom through her story telling of her many life experiences. She was strong willed and could be very stubborn. It was this stubbornness that helped her overcome so many obstacles she faced in life such as overcoming addictions, experiencing great losses and having many health issues. We are sure that her stubbornness extended her life! We will remember her beautiful smile and her laughter that came so easily. She always made Pat laugh with her antics what she said and what she did. She was the best cook and was always ready to feed family and any visitors. And which talent she passed on to her sons and many others. In her later years she kept busy, being the epitome of independence doing her own housework and such. You would see her taking her beloved dog out for a walk. She loved reading cookbooks, doing puzzles, playing solitaire and word search--all of which kept her mind sharp.
Margaret was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was very active in her later years. She entered the temple and was endowed June 2017. She had a strong testimony and great faith. At the end, Margaret told her visitors, family and sons to go home and rest that she was “okay.” It’s like she waited to be alone to save them witnessing her passing. Though we feel her spirit with us, we will still miss seeing her and being with her.
Our appreciation to Dr. Brian Low, Dr. Stephen Kwan, nurses of the 4A Unit and the HCA’s who attended to Margaret. We extend a most heartfelt appreciation to her son, Patrick Morning Owl, who lived with and cared for his mother 24/7 for the last four months of her life and for attending to her, along with his wife, the past 11 years. Margaret had many close friends and relatives who helped to make her life a wondrous one.
A Wake Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, Aug. 2nd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at the
