Edward Deloyd Murphy, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle passed away, January 13, 2026 at the age of 91. Ed was born in Hartley, Alberta, Oct. 31, 1934 at the family farm. He later moved to Cardston where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was very tiny when he was born and so Eva placed him in a shoebox behind the coal burning stove to keep him warm. He was tough like this right to the end. Edward is survived by his four children Lorrie (Rudi) Michel; Lisa (Rod) Walburger; Wes (Rhonda) Murphy, and Julie (Tedd) Heggie. Ed and Hazel have 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and so many that loved him as “Uncle Ed”. Ed was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Hazel, his father and mother Elmer and Eva and eight siblings Gladys, Rose Aldridge, Martha, Margaret, Beth, John, Donna, three brothers-in-laws Chess Aldridge, Don May, Grant Nelson and one grandson Jedd Heggie. Ed has eight surviving siblings Colleen May, Floyd (Denise), Ina Hornaman, Ron (Karen), Albert (Diane), Joyce Nelson, Lyla (Dallas) Senft, Kathy (Dave) Smith. Dad was a hard worker who provided for his family and was always willing to serve or go the extra mile to “build the piano” for anyone. Dad’s career included working for Remington Construction for years followed by helping to the build the Remington Carriage Museum and then as a restoration specialist for the Center until his retirement.
