EDWARD NEIMANN passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 8, 2023 in the Cardston Hospital at the age of 85 years. Ed was born January 15, 1938 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Ed is greatly missed by his daughter Jennifer (Tobias) and his two grandchildren Abigayle and Bella. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
Ed was pre-deceased by his wife Sue, his parents Arthur and Jennie, and his sister Jackie.
Ed grew up on the family farm at Magrath. From a young age, he was breeding and raising his own animals and helping with field work. By the time he was in Grade 12 he had saved up enough money to buy himself a pink and white 1956 Ford Crown Victoria Car. He owned that car almost 20 years and often reminisced about how amazing it was.
He went to high school in Magrath and continued his education at Olds College where he received his Agriculture Diploma. With the help of his dad, he bought his ranch at Boundary Creek in 1959 when he was only 21 years old.
Ed married the love of his life, Sue Kirkham, in 1971 and never remarried after she passed in 2000. He built their dream home in 1984 and lived there and continued ranching right up to his passing. Jenn and Tobias moved back to the ranch in 2003, and he was always so happy to have his family living in the same yard. He loved being able to work alongside his daughter every day. Abby became his new sidekick when she got older and they loved working together and had a special bond.
Ed was a kind and gentle man. He was never afraid of working hard and put 100% into everything he did. In his younger years, he was always riding his horse but as technology advanced his quad became his main mode of transportation around the ranch. He was always looking for better and more efficient ways to run the operation. He loved the outdoors, animals, and his family. He always had a dog by his side and usually a few cats, chickens, cows or horses following him around as well.
Your presence I miss, your memory I treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at Boundary Creek Community Hall on August 18, 2023 at 2:00pm.
Ed's ashes will be spread in a private ceremony on the ranch at a later date.
