It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Kay Olsen, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, at the age of 79. He spent his youth and raised his family in Leavitt, Alberta. In later years he moved to Cardston, Alberta. Kay dedicated himself to his work as a barber and rancher, finding joy in both pursuits. Kay was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a man of deep faith. He served faithfully as a home teacher and ministering brother. He also served in such capacities as Young Men’s President, Elder’s Quorum President and Bishopric Counsellor.
Kay also served his community with quiet strength and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. He was a proud supporter of Cougar athletics and was a regular fixture in the Cardston High School gymnasium and on the sidelines of Walker Field. His legacy of true charity and dedication will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, and their two sons, Craig (Alisha) Olsen and Kendall (Melissa) Olsen. His siblings, Zola (Mac - deceased) McConnell and Calvin (Juddy) Olsen. He was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family, honing his craft as a barber for 60 years, and tending to his horses.
He is preceded in death by his son, Russell Wade, as well as his parents; Charles Irvin and Alice Leavitt Olsen, and siblings; Theron Olsen, Rhea Jensen, and Afton Shaw.
