William James ("Jim") Palmer of Edmonton, Alberta passed away on Sep 8, 2025. Jim was born on Dec 12, 1937 in Lethbridge, Alberta. He was the fifth child of Edwin and LaRue Palmer.  He grew up in Barnwell AB and while in High School moved to Raymond AB where he was president of his graduating class.

As a young man, Jim served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the West Central States (USA) mission.  He met his sweetheart when she brought her students for a field trip to the Raymond Sugar Factory.  He married Barbara May in the Cardston AB temple in 1962.  Jim was a faithful member of the church throughout his life, and served in various callings, his favorite being Scout Master. His career was in the concrete industry as a civil engineering technologist. He enjoyed quality control and technical problem solving.  He was generous and he loved to welcome others to our home for family dinners and church activities.  He enjoyed tobogganing, fishing, and sailing with his family. He loved a good laugh, enjoyed practical jokes, and was a fountain of puns.

Jim developed dementia which became increasingly severe the last several years.  After 2 years at Capital Care Grandview, he succumbed to an infection and passed away peacefully.  Jim was predeceased by his parents Edwin and LaRue, his twin brothers Garth and Keith, and his sister Joanne. He is survived by his wife Barbara and his children, Darrell Palmer (Kelly), Jodi Jones (Craig), Lonni McMullen (Tim), Doug Palmer (Charlotte), Jeniece Fernandez (Nelson), Bryce Palmer (Carla) and Terry Palmer (Nicole); 27 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Ella Mae Gardner and Sheila Hague, and his brother Jerry Palmer.
