Colin William James Paterson, beloved husband of Clarice Jensen Paterson, passed away in Cardston, Alberta, on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the age of 68 years. He was born in Calgary, Alberta to Betty Jo and Donald Paterson as the second of three children. When he was young, his family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, and later to Victoria and Prince George.
Colin loved buying, selling, and fixing up Volkswagens and other cars. He owned many vehicles over the years and loved hunting for good deals, often traveling great distances in search of the perfect car. He also loved telling jokes and stories, many of which included his childhood adventures.
Colin lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many activities including camping, skiing, hiking, jogging, cycling, road trips, and spending time outdoors with his family. He had no shortage of stories about his adventures, and loved telling them to anyone who would listen.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Virginia, Roanoke Mission. He met and married the love of his life, Clarice Jensen, soon after returning home. They moved to Southern Alberta where he completed his teaching degree and spent 31 years as a teacher. Teaching was one of his greatest passions, and he continued to tutor students after retirement.
Colin had a big heart and helped anyone he could. He eagerly volunteered himself to shovel snow, mow lawns, and perform other acts of service. In addition, he loved serving in his many church callings working with the youth and young adults as a bishop, seminary teacher, and high counsellor, among others. But he always said that his greatest accomplishment was his family.
Colin is survived by his sweetheart, Clarice Jensen Paterson and their children:
Jensen (Vivian) Paterson, Dunken, Quinn, Jasper, Gemma
Dena (Andrew) McMurdie, Kayla, Alyssa, Avery
Daley (Desirée) Paterson, Audrey, Logan, and a baby on the way
