Ann Beverly (Pepperell) Pilling passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 27, 2025 at the age of 88.
Ann was born in South Camberwell, Victoria, Australia to Joseph Albert Pepperell & Elizabeth Eugenie Picon. She was the third of four children, Albert Francis (1930), Josephine Wendy (1935), Ann Beverly (1937) & John (1939) At the age of 18, Ann and her sister Josie set sail from Melbourne, Australia, via Europe, to England. On board the ship they met the Mormon Missionaries. Ann joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and developed a strong testimony of the gospel. Ann had an infectious resolve, and a dedication to her family and the gospel. She held callings as the Relief Society President, Counselor, Teacher & Young Woman’s President. Ann’s favorite calling was teaching Gospel Doctrine and working on genealogy.
Ann had many talents. She was an exceptional artist, beautiful seamstress, as well as an incredible cook & home decorator. Ann had a strong work ethic that she shared through example during her time as the Secretary of the Magrath Elementary School, a Hairdresser & receptionist at the Dahl Clinic.
Ann was also an avid reader. In 1987, Ann became the Chair of the Library and held that position for 31 years. This began the journey to raise $500,000 to build the Magrath Library. Ann, and the rest of the Library board, spent countless hours fundraising by donations, grants, golf tournaments, bake sales, quilts, silent auctions, catered luncheons and entertainment nights. Ann and the Magrath Library Board were extremely proud of this accomplishment and are greatly indebted to so many in the community for donating many hours to making this happen. A special thanks to Bill Hasegawa (Engineering), Tag Davidson (Drywall), Rodney Bly, town administrator for accessing grants and Robin Chipman who ran the job.
“By far the most momentous, wonderful and worthy things are what we call books.”
Ann is survived by her husband, Moyle H. Pilling and their children:
Gregory (Tanya) Pilling - Alexandra, Victoria, Nicole
Lisa (Randall) Haynes - Anthony (Whitney) Haynes, Aiden, Lincoln - Kassidy (Easton) Chipman, Olivia, Avery, Nola, Lottie - Nicholas (Rebecca) Haynes, Evangeline, Theodore
