GORDON JOSEPH PLAIN WOMAN passed away in Cardston on July 6, 2016 at the age of 80 years.
Gordon Joseph Plain Woman was born June 29, 1936. His parents are Percy Plain Woman and Paula Black Horse. He was raised on the Blood Reserve and attended the St. Mary’s Residential School. He was apart of the aka’pooka clan (many children). During his younger years he was a chicken dancer and was in one of the First Old Agency Drum group with Dominic Cross Child and Ed Chief Moon. Throughout his life he worked in various places like Vauxhaull and did farm work for Ken Long for five years and picked apples in Creston B.C. He was very experienced with cattle and breaking horses. His hobbies included hand games, making hand-made bull ropes, hockey, fast-ball, track and field (1 mile and 5 mile), and art work. Sometimes in the 70’s he rode a bull in the Cardston rodeo and did some work out at the potato farm. Then in the 80’s he worked at the Saw Mill in Creston/Kennell flats for 1 year. When his 3 children were young his sister Nellie Plain Woman helped raise his kids while he worked very hard to provide for them. And as a grandfather he was always there for them wherever and whenever they needed him. He was friendly to all who knew him, and basically worked all his life including Bulton’s farm where he seeded and watched cattle.
A Wake Service will be at the Old Saipoyi Gym, Stand Off on Tuesday, July 12th from 7:00 p.m all night. The Funeral Service will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Wednesday July 13th at 11:00 a.m.
