It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of KJ- KEVIN WALLACE JUNIOR PLAITED HAIR - “Sinaakowaan” - Cree Man. KJ was born on June 4, 2003 in Lethbridge, AB and passed away surrounded by family in Cardston on February 7, 2019.  KJ is the second oldest son of Kevin Plaited Hair and Shannon Eagle Speaker and brother to Dradon (Bronwyn), Leland, Kenny; sisters, Dakota, Cassidy, and Brooklyn. KJ was attending Kainai High School and was an avid basketball players there through his Jr. and 1st year of high school. KJ loved the game and travelling all over with his best friend Seth. KJ liked to listen to music and created his own rhymes and lyrics. He also liked hangin out with his friends and family. KJ was a proud member of the brave dog society- joining at an early age alongside his brother Dradon and was an active member participating in ceremonies, sweats, and bundle openings etc. KJ was a friendly and kind person with a big smile and passionate soul and loved to hug and embrace everyone.  KJ’s maternal grandparents are Sharon Eagle Speaker and the late John Francis Melting Tallow (Red Crane). His paternal grandparents are Shirley Plaited Hair and Kenny Wolf -Onion Lake SK.  KJ is also survived by aunties- Joni, Melissa, and Laura; uncle Garon Plaited Hair.  He had many extended family- great aunties- Levena Devine, Ramona First Rider (Ervin), Wanda Eagle Speaker, Cindy Plaited Hair (Dewey), Debbie Plaited Hair, Connie Plaited Hair (Merle), Philomina Melting Tallow (Rusty), Freda Melting Tallow, Francine Melting Tallow, Charlene Melting Tallow; great uncles- Winston Bruised Head (Lavina), Myron Eagle Speaker (Tanya), Steven (Diane) Bruised Head, Tom (Delores) Bruised Head, Sidney Plaited Hair, Bobby Plaited Hair, Frank Plaited Hair, Floyd Melting Tallow (Sharon); special godparents- Johnny and Miranda Plaited Hair; also his extended families: Plaited Hair, Melting Tallow, Red Crane, Eagle Speaker, Wolfchild, Black Forehead, Blackface, and Standing Alone.

A Wake Service will be held at White Calf Hall, Stand Off on Thursday, February 14th from 7:00 p.m. continuing all night.
The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Friday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m.
