Gertrude Muriel “Trudy” Woods Prete, passed away in Cardston, Alberta in her home Thursday May 8, 2025 at the age of 90. 
     She was born in at home in Pathlow, Saskatchewan on February 19, 1935.  She was the 5 th of 8 children born to Earnest Henry Woods and Velma Adaline Woods. She had 6 sisters and 1 brother. She grew up on the family farm where she learned the skill of hard work, which was a trait that carried through out her life and she passed on to her children. She married Lyle Mervin Prete July 24 th , 1953 in Melford, Saskatchewan. They had a double wedding ceremony with her sister Clara Woods and Lyle’s brother Norman Prete. Their first 3 children were born while living in Melford. Lylia, Laura and Larry.  Lyle and Trudy then moved to Alberta where they had their next 3 children. Randy, Ruby and Brenda.
     She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints where she served in many callings. She had a love for children and loved serving them. Her and Lyle were foster parents to over 35 children. She was a bus driver for over 35 years. She was one of the best day home providers, babysitting until her late 70’s. She loved gardening, canning, birds, puppies and sweet peas! Lyle and Trudy always had the prettiest yard in town. If you stopped by their home, you never left hungry, food was her love language. Her greatest love though was that of her family. Her children and grandchildren’s friends along with the neighbourhood kids were all treated like her own grandkids and called her Grandma. She was a mother to all.
     She leaves to mourn her children Lylia Prete, Laura (deceased) (Gordon Bevans), Larry (Collen) Prete, Randy (Deb) Prete, Ruby (Merlin Bevans), Brenda (Micheal Rhodes), numerous foster children.  Numerous grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Sisters: Clara Prete Froc, Daisy(Bill Zinn) Sister in-laws Elsie, Phillis, Betty (Jeff Parkvold, A brother in law Jack Kerns, cousins, numerous nieces and nephews.   
     She is predeceased by her sweetheart of 71 years Lyle Mervin Prete, parents, 1 brother George, 4 sisters, Barb, Ellen, Mable, Shirley, her daughter Laura Bevans, her grandsons, Eric Wiley, Ryan Hall. Her Granddaughters Kelly Hall, Alisa Prete Suykens and a great granddaughter Salestial Hingano.
     Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 12th , 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, Cardston West Stake Center (on the Waterton Highway) Cardston, Alberta.  Friends may meet the family the Legacy Funeral Home on Sunday May 11th, 2025 7:00 pm to 8:00pm or at the church on May 12th, 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery.
     The family would like to thank Dr. Cole Leavitt, Dr. Lloyd Clarke, the amazing nurses from Cardston home care and the in-home staff past and present that have so amazingly taken care of our parents through the years.
