It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother Melva (Peterson) Quinton. Melva died peacefully in her sleep at the Lee Crest on July 24, 2023 at the age of 96. She is survived by her children Sandra (Dallas) Bevans, Duane (Nicole) Quinton, Randy (Heather) Quinton, Cheryl (Larry) Lowry, Allan (Sheri) Quinton, Laura (Jim) Adamson, Gary (Michelle) Quinton, as well as 33 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 sister Donna and 2 brothers Lamar and Grant.
Melva was born November 27, 1926 in Cardston. She was raised and lived in Beazer.
Melva began dating Reid Quinton and they were married on June 7, 1945. They lived in Cardston and built a new house on the South Hill. Not long after building the house Reid bought a farm just outside of Cardston. Melva reluctantly left her new home and moved to the farm.
Mom worked at the Treasury Branch for many years, she also worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Wayne Olsen. Melva served with Reid in the Cardston Native Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 14 years. They also served weekly in the Temple for about 15 years. Melva served in the primary and Young Womens for many years. Melva served a mission with Reid in the Western Canada Lethbridge Welfare Services in 2000.
Mom enjoyed camping at Surveyors with her family, sun tanning, and swimming. Some of the pastimes she also enjoyed were playing cards, rook club, as well as quilting, knitting, and doing puzzles. She was the biggest supporter of watching her grandchildren in their sporting activities and spending time with her family.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at the South Hill Chapel with Bishop Alan Wiley officiating. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 10:00-10:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Beazer Cemetery.
