RONNALD DEAN QUINTON
DECEMBER 23, 1946 - JULY 22, 2025

Picture
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ronnald Dean Quinton, passed from this life at home on July 22, 2025, with his loving wife by his side and several devoted family members close at hand. Though his final days were marked by pain and quiet, his life was a living testimony of service, perseverance, and quiet love.

Known to most as Ronn, he was born in Cardston, Alberta, on December 23, 1946—the first of six children born to Dean and Thelma Quinton. From his earliest days, Ronn’s life was rooted in family, faith, and a deep connection to the land he called home.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his devotion was sincere. He lived his beliefs in quiet ways—serving his family, his neighbors, and his friends with unspoken faith and steady kindness. He gave generously of his time and strength and never hesitated to lend a hand when there was work to be done.

Ronn was an agriculturalist through and through. He raised cattle and sheep, worked hard in all seasons, and took joy in the harvest. He had a special bond with his favorite palomino horse, Princess, and his faithful dog, Chasey, who was a cattle dog extraordinaire.
He began his education at Olds College and, later in life with kids in tow, earned a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and a Master’s in Food Science from Utah State University, proving that age was no barrier to growth and learning.

More than anything, Ronn was a dedicated grandfather and great-grandfather. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—sharing a story, giving a ride on the quad, playing a card or board game, or simply enjoying their company as they ran around and danced for him as he sat in his favorite chair. Even just days before his passing, oxygen tank in tow, he was still among them—giving quad rides at a family reunion and soaking in every moment in his beloved Hills.

Ronn also loved a good card game. He was a regular at his weekly “club” with lifelong friends and took pride in becoming Alberta’s senior cribbage champion multiple times, competing in the national tournament for several years.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Catherine, and their children: Deanna (Douglas) Larson, Wesley (Leila) Quinton, Carl Quinton, Attena Quinton, Kali (Ryan) Ewing, and Jonathan (SanaShae) Quinton. He was a proud grandfather to: Sierra, Hunter, Kyra, Rachael, Emily, Wesley, Jesse, Rowan, Dean, Ben, Kayzia, Jordan, Zak, Arianne, Beckham, Penelope, and Nora; and a beloved great-grandfather to Shasta, Rowen, Beckham, Thatcher, Evelyn, Roscoe, and Ivie.  He is also survived by his siblings, Maureen Scott, Terry (Joan) Quinton, Jamie (Connie) Quinton, and Jana (Randy) Graham, and predeceased by his sister, Coralee Purnell.

He lived a life of service—humble, hands-on, and full of heart. He didn’t seek attention, but he made an indelible mark through quiet labor, deep loyalty, and a love that showed in actions more than words.

A Funeral Service will be held this Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leavitt Chapel, Leavitt, AB.  Friends may meet the family from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
