Sharon Ross (1950-2024)
Sharon Ross of Cardston, Alberta passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the age of 73.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband Jim Ross, their children Cliff Ross and Lindsay (Blake) Hafso, grandchildren Ava and Charlie Hafso, sister Brenda (John) Cope, brothers Max (Linda) Woslyng and Roger Woslyng, and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Bev and Afton Woslyng.
Sharon was born in Cardston, Alberta on December 14, 1950, the youngest of four children. She was raised in Cardston and attended high school in Inuvik NWT when her parents relocated there. After graduating, she came back to Alberta, where she studied to become a licensed practical nurse and then worked in hospitals in Calgary and Cardston. In 1982, Sharon and Jim were married and together, they had two children, Cliff and Lindsay. In 1987, they moved the family out near Carway, where they ran Twin Lakes Angus Ranch together. Sharon enjoyed keeping a tally of boys vs girls each calving season to see which side “won” (she was always rooting for more heifers with her yearly “Think Pink” campaign!). Sharon loved where she lived, and she was especially fond of her beautiful views of Chief Mountain and many spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Sharon was very proud of her family, and she was her kids’ greatest cheerleader. In recent years, one of her greatest joys was becoming a “Nana” and she cherished her grandkids, Ava and Charlie.
Sharon loved to read and spend time with family and friends, especially visits with her grandkids, walks around town with friends and chats in person, on the phone or online. She loved all things Canadian and could often be seen wearing one of her many “Canada” shirts. Sharon shared her kind heart and wonderful sense of humour wherever she went. She will be dearly missed by those who had the great fortune to know her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sharon’s honour to the Canadian Cancer Society.
There will be no service for Sharon at this time. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
