
Garry Warren Sanderson, 81, of Cardston, Alberta, passed away suddenly on March 23rd, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Garry's life was marked by a commitment to his family, faith, and service to others.
He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife Gloria, whom he cherished deeply. Garry was a loving father to Brian (Darcie) Sanderson, Karen Runquist, and Kathleen (Grant) Hastings. He was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren. Garry is also survived by his brother Bruce (Jeannie) Sanderson, sisters Diane (Dennis) Cooley, and Pat Sanderson.
Garry is preceded in death by his first wife Elaine and his parents Roy and Eugenie Sanderson. While his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, there is solace in the thought of his joyful reunion with loved ones who have gone before him.
Known for his kindness, patience, and unwavering faith, Garry was a pillar of strength for his family and friends. He had a passion for spending time with his loved ones, always ready for a game of cards or a meaningful conversation. “Grandpa Garry” was always there when you needed him, ready to lend an ear and share his wisdom and advice.
Garry served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces for 18 years, and along with his family was stationed in France, Germany, Belgium and Canada. Upon retiring as a captain, Garry spentthe rest of his pilot career working as a corporate and charter pilot until his retirement in 2014. His love of flying and travel allowed him to visit dozens of locales around the world. His gentle, calm demeanor put many of his passengers at ease.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garry lived a life guided by his Christian values. He and Elaine served a mission for the church in Frankfurt, Germany, where they touched countless lives with their compassion and service. Garry continued his dedication to his faith by serving as a worker in the Cardston, Alberta Temple, and devoted his time to indexing and family history work.
After Elaine's passing, Garry was blessed to find love again with Gloria, who brought him happiness and joy. Though their time together was brief, their love was evident to all who knew them.
Garry Warren Sanderson will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire those who were touched by his life. Though he may no longer walk beside us, Garry's spirit will forever live on in our hearts, guiding us with love and light as we navigate life's journey without him.
