
ELFRIEDE SCHAAF March 13, 1941 - June 21, 2023
Elfriede reunited with her faithful parents, Johann Georg Schaaf and Maria Reinhardt on June 21, 2023. She was greeted by her siblings whom had previously crossed the veil, brothers Georg Albert Schaaf, and Eberhard Schaaf, and sister Ruth Esther Bauer. Leaving behind her sisters Erika Niedermeir and Gisela Schluenzen, and her brother Siegfried Schaaf and their families. Elfriede will be deeply missed by her niece Esther Bugger (T.J. Bugger) and grand-nephews and grand-niece, Austin,and Tanner Bugger and Nicolette Holfery, with whom she kept close contact.
Elfriede was born in Germany and grew up during the second world war as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was fiercely protective of her family, starting her working life early as to help with their support. At age 23 (1964) Elfriede struck out on her own and came to Canada, where she met Gloria Dalli. They became forever friends and as a result Gloria joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Elfriede's sister, Ruth and nephew Frank, came from Germany, and all four lived happily together for many years. Frank passed away tragically at the age of 23. Elfriede, Ruth, and Gloria moved to Cardston in 1997 where they gladly served in, and attended the Temple for many years. Ruth passed away in 2020, followed by Gloria passing in 2022. Elfriede felt lost without her companions of so many years. In March of 2023 Elfriede joined the residents of Lee Crest Nursing Home, she resided there until her passing.
She will be greatly missed by her family who reside world wide in South Africa, England, Switzerland, Germany, and USA.
The Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28th, at 11:00 a.m.
Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Prior to the service. Interment to follow at the Cardston Cemetery.
