With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved, dear sister, niece, auntie, friend, and relative, Melva Simone Scout (Piitaaipottaakii– Eagle Flying Woman). Many knew her as Simone, the cherished daughter of the late Shannon Faye Red Crow-Shade and Simon Donovan Scout-Chief Moon. Simone was a member of the Fish Eaters Clan (Mamioyiiksi) and a direct descendant of Chief Red Crow through the Chief Moon family line. She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Kendrick and Kendra. On her father's side, her lineage includes Chief Red Crow, Chief Moon, Dan Chief Moon, Jordan Chief Moon Sr, Simon Donovan Scout-Chief Moon, Melva Simone Scout. On her mother's side, her lineage includes Helen Cochrane, Dina Red Crow, Lois Melva Red Crow, Shannon Faye Red Crow-Shade, and Sarah Margaret Red Crow. Her paternal aunts are Lenora Scout (Horace Shouting), Arlene Scout (Todd Soup), Chantal Scout, Nitasha Scout (Nicholas Many Fingers), and Tyne Shouting (Cyrus Weaselfat). Simone is also survived by her great-aunt Rose Ann Scout (Justin Yellow Horn), her great uncle Charlie Scout, and many great-aunts and great-uncles. Her maternal brothers are Jonathon Travis Daniel Red Crow, Adrian Derek Red Crow, Seth Red Crow-Old Shoes, and Ty Red Crow. Her paternal brothers are Simon Danny Scout, Tyreese Chev Scout, Donovan Roan Scout. Her paternal sisters are Taylor Crow Spreads His Wings (Joey), Danika Freeman (Mason), and Montana Freeman. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and loved ones. Simone was predeceased by her parents, Shannon Faye Red Crow-Shade and Simon Donovan Scout-Chief Moon; her grandparents, Jordan Sr Chief Moon and Rosetta Scout-Chief Moon; her aunts, Melody Jolaine Scout and Kim Scout; her uncle, Kristian Scout; and her cousin and sister, Kristen Scout. She was also predeceased by her great-grandparents, Ben Scout, Sarah Scout (Stabs Down-Blue Wings), Dan Chief Moon, and Philomena Morning Owl Chief Moon. Simone will be lovingly remembered by her extended Scouts, Chief Moons, Morning Owls, Stabs Downs, and Blue Wings families, as well as many other relatives, friends, and loved ones. The Wake Service will be held on Sunday, June 7 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 8 at 11:00 am at Senator Gladstone Hall. Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery.
