Ronald “Troy” Clovis Shot Both Sides, beloved son of Colleen Shot Both Sides and Randall Hoof, passed away suddenly in Calgary on September 10, 2021, at the age of 33.
Troy is lovingly remembered by his children: Taylor, Tory, and Tyreese; Siblings: Randa, R.J. (Sky-lee), Mitchell, and Kobe Shot Both Sides; Nephew: Drayden; aunties: Christine (roy) Bare Shin Bone, Clara Chief Moon, Lena Shot Both Sides, Gabriell Hairy Bull, Maryanne (Matthew) Chief Moon, Florence (Richard) Right Hand, Bertha Chief Moon, Bonita Long Time Squirrel; Uncles: Alfred, Christopher, Donald, and Jim (Linda) Shot Both Sides, Johnny, Jordan, Edward (Elaine), Keith (Karen) Chief Moon, William Long Time Squirrel.
Troy was born in Cardston, but grew up on the Blood Reserve and Calgary, however, he loved Calgary and always considered it his home. Troy loved the city life and spending time with his friends and family. He loved music, especially the old school music like Tupac and Biggie Smalls. As Troy was growing up, he was often hanging out with his cousin Boyd who was more like a brother to him.
Troy was a devoted father, once his oldest Taylor was born his whole life was about his children. He worked hard to provide for his family, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them.
Troy attended numerous schools throughout his childhood in Calgary, but successfully graduated high school from Kainai. As an adult, he worked at as foot patrol in the communities of Moses Lake and Levern, as well as a labourer in Calgary.
Troy was his mother’s first-born child; therefore, they shared an unbreakable bond, and he knew he can always count on his mother for anything. He took the role as being the oldest sibling proudly, always supporting his siblings in whatever they desired and being the shoulder, they can cry on. Troy made sure his family was always good even though he lived in Calgary he always called and messaged to check on them.
Troy will always be remembered by his infectious smile and laugh that would instantly light up the room, it was never a dull moment when he was around. One of his be qualities was turning any negative situation into a positive one, he always wanted whoever he was with to be happy.
Troy was predeceased by his grandparents: Clovis and Delphine Shot Both Sides; uncles: Calvin, Delbert, and Elvis Shot Both Sides; aunties: Doris Gros Ventre Boy and Joyce Shot Both Sides; his maternal great-grandparents: Jim and Annie Shot Both Sides and Tom Long Time Squirrel.

A Wake Service will be held at the Tanner Seniors Center, Cardston, AB (260 1 St W) on Sunday, September 26 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Monday, September 27 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Pioneer Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
