It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Godfrey Shawn Shouting, aged 27, on November 26, 2020. He leaves to mourn his beloved companion of 6 years, Deidre Long Time Squirrel. He also was the proud father of two boys whom he loved dearly, Lazarus Chief Calf and Kingsley Shouting (Long Time Squirrel). Uncles Wesley (Gwen), Marlon, Matthew Shouting, and Johnathon Weasel Bear; Aunts Deanna Shouting and Melanie Crazy Bull; Siblings Jared, Jessica, Justin Shouting, Sheila (Jagger) Holy Singer, Sharmaine (Owen) Shouting, Jasmine Good Striker, Corrina (Marvin), Bruce (Maria), Tobi (Monty) Oka, Wes (Cherylynn), and Curtis Black Rabbit. Along with too many Friends and Family to mention.
Godfrey was born in Cardston, AB on July 21, 1993 and was brought home by his parents the late Lyndon Shouting and Shawna Crazy Bull. In his younger years he was raised by the late Julianna Day Chief, and then by Oliver and Ann Shouting in his teenage years. He was the proud biological brother to 4 younger siblings who he cherished, however throughout his life he was blessed with many other siblings that loved him as much as he loved them.
Godfrey was always the life of the party wherever he went, he had a quick wit and loved to tease others jokingly. In his childhood he loved to play basketball, ride his bike, and would often be found getting into mischief with his boys. He was raised in the full gospel church, where he met lifelong friends who were still found in his heart. He loved music, and when you saw him he probably had headphones attached to his ears. Before her untimely passing, his sister Jolene was his tail. Many times seen riding on the back pegs of his bike through Standoff while waiting for Julianna to finish her business at the building. When he wasn’t in Standoff he could be found in Moses Lake at his beloved Grandma Geraldine‘s house visiting with family, often found hanging around his young uncles and their friends. He enjoyed attending Shouting/Holy Singer family functions where he was surrounded by Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and other extended family. Growing up he was known affectionately by two nicknames “Goofy” and “Little Man”, which he gladly accepted.
Godfrey attended Saipoyi Elementary School, Tatsikiisaapo’p Middle School, and then Kainai High School, where he made many lifelong friends with people he kept close to his heart. He was a true friend, and very affectionate not one to shy away from hugs and other expressions of friendship and love. When he called you “Bro” or “Sis” he meant you would always be in his heart. He will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered by all the people he came across in his life.
In 2015, Godfrey met his companion, Deidre Long Time Squirrel and moved to the Fort Whoop-up area and resided there until his passing. In 2016, their son , Kingsley was born; Godfrey was so proud and happy his other son, Lazarus would have a play mate. Godfrey was accepted into Deidre’s family and bonded with her mother and sisters. Deidre’s mom treated Godfrey like one of her own; He could always count on her for a ride home. When Godfrey was home he spent his time reading, playing video games and best of all playing games with Kingsley. Godfrey was very proud of his little family. He had a good heart and had the best of intentions on changing his lifestyle and build a better life for his family.
