It is with great sadness that the family of Julee Alice Small announces her passing on 16 May 2026 peacefully at her home in Cardston.
Julee was born in the City of Calgary on 25 Jan 1952. Despite a bad snow storm Theron and Alice Smith drove up because Theron was positive to adopt the girl, a story he would share with his grandson decades later.
Julee happily grew up with her brother Terry and Randy, brothers who loved their sister. She also loved her cousins Darlean, Ford, Shannon and Ron.  She would become friends with Randy’s wife Val and their two children Kandice and TJ.
While at university down in Logan Julee met her life long best friend Aloha, both would go on to have many adventures together.
After university she went on to teach, where she befriended Judy. While delivering Judy’s husband, Fred lunch one day Julee met the love of her Life, Fred’s friend, Ronald James Small. The two eventually married and had one son Jeff Small. Ron was the only person to call her “Jules”, something she fondly remembered. While they lived in Lethbridge she befriended Kyomi and Dot as well as family friends Ginia and her husband Ron.
The Small Family would have many travels together, one favourite place was the BC coast where Ron’s family lived, often staying at his sister’s Wendy place with her husband Gene and two daughters Stacy and Josee. As well as visiting Anne & William and their family, Jo Ann, Jesse and David. Also visiting more of Ron’s family including Brian, Bill & Marlean and Sam & Mary.
Eventually when Ron retired they would travel in their RV. After that they moved to Cardston, where they would celebrate many Christmases together by having their annual tradition of watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Alister Sim’s Scrooge. Christmas shopping together was a favourite of theirs.
In Cardston Julee made friends and acquaintances with many people including Mel.
Julee loved to travel including going on cruises, either with Ron or later with her good friend Aloha where they would visit Europe twice.
Sadly in June 2024 Ron passed away, Julee and Jeff helped each other through this sad and difficult time, with also the help of their beloved family and friends, until Julee’s passing. Julee is survived by her son Jeff Small.
Julee’s skills with people and social situations were second to non, and her warm loving personality made her lots of friends, only to be surpassed by her great devotion to her family and her love for them. She will be greatly missed and remembered fondly.  Goodbye Mom “I can no longer hold you in my arms, so I will hold you in my Heart” – Jeff Small 2015
There will be a private memorial for Julee at a later date as well as a private burial ceremony. Those who wish to give their condolences can do so at [email protected]
Those wishing to remember Julee in a special way are invited to make a donation in her memory to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada, or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
