It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great grand mother, sister, and friend, MARIE GLADYS SOOSAY. Marie left to be with creator on May 31, 2018 at the age of 65. Marie was the loving mother to Barry Joel and Patrick Kelly Soosay. Grandmother to James Wells, Tamara Soosay, Lola, Kelly, Mason, Carson Soosay, and Blossom Shouting. Marie was predeceased by her two children who she kept in her heart always; Clinton and Bonnie Soosay. Marie was born to the late Stephan & Elsie Mistaken Chief and raised on the Blood Reserve. She graduated from St. Mary's High school and then went on to complete the Nursing Aid Program at Henderson College. Growing up Marie took great pride from learning and helping her father with his native spiritual practices. It was one of her greatest accomplishemnts to learn the prayers, protocol, and ceremonies to become the healer her father was. The love for her mother was always unconditional and they shared so many fond memories. Marie was a hard worker and a avid homemaker. Her love for her children ran deep and they were her number one priority, always... She took great pride in being a mother to them. Marie shared a special bond with her grand daughter Lola Joy, the love between them is forever. Marie was known to many people as "Mom", she was always willing to listen and give guidance to whoever needed it. Everyone was always welcome into her home for good conversation and tea. Marie was known to give help to whoever seeked it and was well respected from the many people she helped along the way. Her strength and will were of special consideration as she persevered through all of life's trails and tribulations with the same love and patience she was known to have. Marie is survived by her siblings: Larry, Richard, Bruce, John, and Steve Jr. Mistaken Chief. Lottie (Johnny) Many Wounds, Carolyn and Marlene Blood. Predeceased by her loving parents Steve & Elsie Mistaken Chief, and siblings: Beatrice One Spot, Debbie Mistaken Chief, and Elfreda Hunt. Marie was survived by so many people who loved her. She will be greatly missed and has touched so many hearts.
A Candlelight Vigil will be held at the Lethbridge Shelter, 802 - 2A Ave North on Wednesday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m.
The Wake Service will be at Streets Alive Mission (323 4 St S) Lethbridge on Thursday, June 7th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be at St. Basil’s Church ( 604 13 St North) Lethbridge on Friday, June 8th at 11:00 a.m.
