RODERICK "KELLY" STRONG passed away peacefully January 3, 2026 at the age of 70. Kelly is survived by his devoted wife, Julie, and five children; Niki Joe, Brittany, Bradey and Mitchell. He is missed by 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The Strongs were raised in Claresholm, spending many summer days building memories at the family cabin on Echo Lake MT.

Born in Raymond to Joe and Marie Strong, Kelly was the youngest of five siblings. The family spent every summer in Waterton and this love of the park continued into Kelly’s adulthood where he would hike and fish with friends and family. Cameron Lake was his favourite place.

Following in his brother‘s footsteps, Kelly attended Dental school at University of Alberta and was the town dentist of Claresholm from 1982-2014. Dr. Strong gave back to the community generously in his dental practice and left a positive impact on his patients and staff. Kelly and Julie went to Honduras and Guatemala on Dental Service trips.

Kelly was a talented athlete. He was an excellent basketball player and golfer, over the years playing in men’s leagues. Kelly and Julie enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving, and travelling. They escaped to their winter home in St George where Kelly ran in the desert, competing in ultra races and triathlons.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Kelly served in many ways including the scout program, Bishopric and Stake presidency. He was devoted to his faith, living his life guided by honesty and integrity, always fulfilling his commitments.

Friends may meet the family on Friday, January 9, 7:00-8:00 PM at Legacy funeral home in Cardston. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fort McLeod.

Interment at the Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, Alberta.
