Lesley Mckenzie Sweet Grass “Spopiaki” (Turtle Woman) was born on March 19, 2004 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital at 12:05am. Lesley is survived by her loving Mom Tracy Sweet Grass and her siblings Addyson, Kody, Lenny, and Antoine. Her Grandma Alfreda Sweet Grass and her special friends Anessa Creighton and India Kambietz
Lesley was currently studying at Red Crow College in Standoff, AB, and was working part time at Kainaiwa Children’s Services Corporation assisting various departments, Lesley also worked at the Friendship Centre in Lethbridge and the Sandman Signature Lodge.
Lesley was quiet and shy but once you got her talking she would open up, and made you feel special just by her words alone, she loved her dog “Bruno” so much, she loved getting tattoo’s, she was always eager to show everyone when she got a new one and every one had a meaning to her, as it reflected who she was, she was a very bright and lovable person, she made many friends, whom were lifelong and those she touched with her kindness just briefly, she was very empathetic, she loved her siblings very much, and her grandma Alfreda as she spent a lot of time with her, she always helped whenever she was needed, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand in whatever was needing to be done, she would sit quietly enveloped in her podcasts, or you would find her knitting or sitting with her sister, she would always want to go for a drive to “explore”, it didn’t matter where but everything to her and with her was an exciting adventure.

Lesley is survived by her Grandmothers Alfreda Sweet Grass and Annette Frank and Grandpa Vern Frank and Andy Day Rider Sr., Uncles Kelly (Bridget), Troy (Gaylene), Jamie Sweet Grass, Jr Frank and her aunty Chrissy and papa Jono Mistaken Chief, , Her sister Tylene Crow Chief and cousins Stetsun, Kalista, Saskia Sweet Grass and Kian Crow Chief, her brother Aiden Frank and her little cousin Jessa Crow Chief. Aunties Marlene Sweet Grass, Kelly (Ronnie) Thunder Chief, Kayla Frank, Vicky Good Striker, Joyce Mountain Horse and Anita Iron Shirt. Great aunts Rosabelle, Rosemarie. Lesley was pre-deceased by her Dad Les Frank, Great Grandpa Alfred (Eva) Sweet Grass, Great Grandparents Francis & Clara Russell. Great Uncles Fredrick ‘Pumskomaapii”, Gordon & Tony Sweet Grass, Grandma Mary-Rose Sweet Grass, brother Landon Crow Chief, Uncles Joe Shirt and Ceecee Iron Shirt, and Great Aunt Bertha Sweet Grass and Catherine & Oliver Russell, and Cousins Darren & Michael Jr. Sweet Grass, Clarence & Jeffery Chief Body, Great Aunt Eleanor (Kurtis) Russell and Great Uncle Chris Healy.

A Wake Service will be held on Monday, November 17 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church, Blood Reserve. Lesley will be laid to rest in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off, AB.
