WILMA ‘C’ HANSEN TAGG, passed away in the early morning hours of November 9th, 2021, in Cardston at the age of ninety-one years. Her husband of seventy years, Melvin S. Tagg, predeceased her by less than three months. Her parents were Wilford M. Hansen and Alma Coombs Hansen. She is survived by her brother Dr. Bryce Hansen and by her seven children and their spouses, thirty-five grandchildren, and seventy-eight great-grandchildren.
Wilma was born in Cardston in 1930 and attended Cardston High School and LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She worked as a secretary while in High School. She and Melvin Tagg were married in the Alberta Temple December 26, 1951, then honeymooned in Waterton. Wilma worked as a secretary during the first part of her marriage but became a full-time mother after her first child was born. Wilma’s main focus was the education and care of her children. She was also an avid reader and amateur writer, having published more than once. She was interested in drama when she was young. She was also occupied with church service and served as Relief Society President, seminary teacher, temple ordinance worker, and many other callings.
Wilma served six full-time missions for the Church with her husband while in their retirement years in New Zealand, as well as in Rarotonga, Australia, Hawaii, and Aitutaki.
Wilma’s personality was characterized by her native good nature, a sensitivity to the feelings of the people around her, and a spiritual depth based on her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery. A Livestream Link will be available on this obituary on the day of the service.
