Lane Tailfeathers was born on a warm sunny spring day in the late afternoon of April 16, 1986, to the parents of Wanda Tailfeathers and Steven Heavyshields. Lane passed away on June 20, 2021, in Fort Macleod, Alberta.
Lane was born on April 16, 1986, at the Cardston Municipal Hospital and was baptized on August 31, 1986, in the St. Paul’s Anglican Church on the Blood Reserve. He was confirmed on June 15, 1998, at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church in Lethbridge, Alberta.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Wanda Tailfeathers, his father, Steven Heavyshields, his children, Landon Tailfeathers, Aaliyah Tailfeathers and Nevaeh Shade.
His sisters, Tannis Tailfeathers, Jodi Lee Heavyshields, Billi Jae Heavyshields and Courtney Day Chief and his brother, Stevie Heavyshields.
His Grandmother, Rose Marie Tailfeathers and many Aunties, Uncles, Nephews, nieces, and cousins from the Tailfeathers, Heavyshields, Foxes, Wings, Twigg’s and his adopted family the Alexanders from Enoch. Also, his God parents, Joel Tailfeathers, Cindy Tailfeathers, Philip Frank, Melvin Wells and Teresa Kay Healy.
Lane attended elementary, junior high and high school in the Lethbridge school system and made many life-long friends. He was an athlete and throughout his youth and early adult life he enjoyed sports by participating in minor hockey, soccer, roller hockey and snow boarding. In the summer he looked forward to the summer camping trips with his parents and going for drives to various places.
As a father, his children were the love of his life and treasured every moment he spent with them.
Even though Lane had struggles in his later years in life he still believed and practised his faith through Christianity and his Blackfoot way of life.
He touched the hearts of many people that he met through his humbleness, kindness, and loving ways. Lane was a compassionate and caring person making sure his family and friends were okay. His family, friends and his Bro’s will miss him for his beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and his warm loving hugs.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Blood Reserve. Interment to follow in the St. Paul’s Cemetery.
