She spent a lot her time with Grandma and Grandpa Twigg therefore developing a treasured relationship with them and her sidekick Pat Twigg whom she considered a biological brother. Pat helped shape Geri into the athlete she would become. Geri attended her formative years residing in the Bullhorn area and attending St Mary’s Residential School. She excelled in her academic studies until she graduated from high school. During her school days, Geri excelled in rodeo, basketball, cheerleading and volleyball. She entered the girls steer riding, won her share in the barrel racing winning her share of belt buckles but her proudest moment was when she won the buckle for Father/daughter Ribbon Roping alongside her daddy, James Twigg. Geri was an outstanding cheerleader for the boy’s varsity basketball team as she could harmonize with her teammates. She cheered the St Mary’s Warriors to a lot of basketball championships.
Geri began her married life shortly after she finished high school where she met and fell in love with Clifford Wells and together, they had two handsome children, the late Russell Scott and Becky Lou, when this relationship ended she married Art Gales, and had three more good-looking children, Antonio, Marley and Christian.

Geri loved all aspects of her life. She never regretted any part of her life. Being raised a devout Catholic and holding tremendous faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She never doubted that she would one day resurrect into the arms of her Saviour and gaze upon the beauty of Our Blessed Mother Mary. She spent her lifetime praying frequently and daily. She recited the Rosary everyday and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. She was one of the first candidates from the Bloods to do her Cursillo. She developed Youth Programs and Youth Camps. She taught catechism for the First Holy Communicants, the highlight being when she witnessed children receiving Jesus for the first time. She also taught Baptismal preparation. She drove teenagers in her dad’s bus to various retreats around Alberta including Lac Ste Anne. Geri believed in attending mass regularly and became a Eucharistic Minister.
