In Sandra’s early teen years she lost her mom Philomena, she was raised by her dad and grandma Lucy Twigg with the help of aunties Mary and Beatrice.
Sandra received her formal education at the St. Mary’s School where she participated in sports especially excelling in basketball. She later pursued her education at the Lethbridge Community College in the Secretarial Science Program and then found employment with the Moccasin Flats Plaza Mini Mart where she was the bookkeeper. Sandra loved working with her boss Virna Many Fingers at the Mini Mart. She then moved to Lethbridge and found employment at the Native Women’s Transition Home now Blackfoot Women’s Lodge, where she took her position very seriously, she just wanted to help the women. After working at the Transition Home for five years, she moved back to Cardston, where she gained employment at the Kainai Healing Lodge as a Night Shift Counselor. She had a lot of pleasant memories from working there. When she began working at the St. Paul’s Treatment Centre now Kainai Healing Lodge she was worried about not having any counseling credentials but she had the experience. While at Kainai Healing Lodge she received on the job training and became a certified councilor. Sandra  worked at Kainai Healing Lodge for 14 years and recently retired from there. Throughout her working career Sandra developed close relationships and special friends especially, Dennis Bad Arm, Virna Many Fingers, Gladys Soosay and Rosabelle Day Chief.
Before and after retirement, in her spare time, Sandra enjoyed reading, her favorite authors were Danielle Steele & Nora Roberts, she also enjoyed watching any Korean/Chinese Movies. She loved going to watch and dance to the Chevelles at the Casino and play the slots, her favorite slot game was “Way To Go”. She enjoyed playing bingo with her auntie/moms Mary, Joanne and Theresa.
She loved it when the family got together, especially the Big Swallow parties/dinners, where we played games for prizes. Sandra had a very close relationship with her auntie/mom Mary Twigg, she would pick her up to go to bingo, and whenever one would win big, they would travel to Calgary and go to all the bingo halls. Sandra, Mary sometimes Rex &/or Lenora would join them playing SkipBo for hours at a time. Whenever cousin Rex would join them, Sandra and him would end up bickering and not talk to each other for days. Sandra also enjoyed travelling to local pow wows and through-out North America. In the early years Sandra & her dad Albert would put up a Blackjack tent at our annual Kainai Indian Days, which had them busy throughout the weekend. She enjoyed those days with her dad and helping him by being the Cashier during the Blackjack games.
Sandra was very faithful to saying the Rosary every day/night. Sandra always wanted her family to be close to one another and one of her last wishes, she asked Lenora to tell the kids, her siblings and family to always say “I Love You” and to hug each other.
