
Jonathan Tyrese Vielle, Maa’Nii’Kainai’Poo’Kaa – New creation to Kainai passed away on November 2, 2023, near Fort Macleod, Alberta at the age of 18 years.
Jonathan Tyrese Vielle (Day Rider), beloved son of Jonathan Vielle Sr., the late Nancy Day Rider, was called home to the heavens at the young age of 18 years old. Tyrese was raised in the Levern area by his grandpa Gilbert Day Rider. Gilbert and Tyrese’s life began when Tyrese was at the age of 2 months old. Over the course of 18 years, Tyrese always knew his grandpa would be there for him no matter the situation. In many ways, they were best friends, because “Having a grandpa is the Lord’s way of making sure a boy always has a best friend”. It is true, we can see that in Gilbert and Tyrese.
Tyrese attended school within the KBE district. The schools included Aahsaopi Elementary, Tatsikiisaapo’p Middle School, and Kainai High School. His teachers would often compliment Tyrese as a respectful young man and would share silly stories of his antics. Tyrese travelled to Vancouver on a school field trip. His family never thought he would leave Levern, but he made his way to Vancouver. Tyrese also played basketball with the JV Kainai Warriors and the TMS Eagles. His passion for basketball was so strong he remembered all the plays and would often talk about his basketball moves to his grandpa Gilbert and to his friends.
Tyrese’s friends played a big role in his life, especially in the most recent years. His bond with his friends was so strong he would literally fight for them. His loyalty was unmatched. Tyrese was loved by so many people and will always be remembered by his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and his playful attitude.

A Candle light Vigil will be held at Highway #2 south of Old Agency Turn outside of Fort Macleod on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm. A Wake Service will be held at the Levern Community Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, November 13 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will also be held at the Levern Community Hall, Blood Reserve on Tuesday, November 14 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in Pioneer cemetery.
