It is with great sadness we announce the passing of LEONARD “LENNY” RANDAL WEASEL FAT, beloved father, brother, son, nephew, uncle and cousin at the age of 56 years old on Sept 15th 2024. Lenny, affectionately called “Sinahkowaan”, was born in Edmonton Alberta on July 3rd, 1968 to the late Maxine Weasel Fat and Sonny Dumont. He is survived by his children; Randy, Riley, Matthew and daughter Maisy (Richard), Grandchildren; Kiaayo and Ksiistsikom’na, as well as siblings Cameron (Erica) Terrance and Jolane Joy (Orrin) plus stepfather Vernon Houle, nieces Ashleigh, Sadie and Neko, nephew Maxwell. Lenny is also survived by his loving grandmother, May Weasel Fat, who raised him among many of his aunts and uncles Daniel (Marci), Roy(Patsy), Geraldine (Joe), Justin, Mary (Darryl), Donna (Larry), Vern, Bertha Weasel Fat and several cousins and relatives. Lenny grew up mostly on the Blood Reserve spending time with cousins riding horses and ranching. He spent his education years in carpentry and earned his various trade certifications at SAIT where he excelled in math and science. He enjoyed creating many things with his hands from furniture and indigenous crafts. He is predeceased by his brother Gabriel and sister April Dumont, grandfather Daniel Weasel Fat Sr., mother Maxine Weasel Fat, aunt Faye Tailfeathers, uncles: Leonard, Clarence and Maxwell Weasel Fat cousins: Shelly Chief Body, Elliot and Jason Weasel fat, with whom he was very close.
A Wake Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, September 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Cardston, AB on Saturday, September 21 at 11:00 am. The interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Blood Reserve with a feast to follow back at St. Paul’s church.
