MARELYN (QUINTON) WILLIAMS, beloved wife of the late Heber Broadbent Williams, passed away in Cardston on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 at the age of 88 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Bernice Quinton, her husband, Heber, her brothers Dean and Reid, her sisters Thyra, Orilla, and Ruth, and her son, Cam. She is survived by her children Rick (Ginny), Don (Lori), Deb (Doug), Karyn (Nick), and (Coralee). She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Marelyn was born September 22, 1935 in Cardston, Alberta to Jim and Bernice Quinton. She grew up with five older siblings, Thyra (Allred), Dean, Reid, Ruth (Muir), and Keith. Those who knew Marelyn appreciated her delicious home-cooked meals, her candid opinions, her competitive Rook skills, and her love of her family. After high school, she held a position for many years as a teller at the Royal Bank. She resigned after having her first child and twins in the span of 16 months and spent many busy years raising her family. This was made easier by the loving help of her mother, who lived next door.
Marelyn was active in her community, participating in various volunteer capacities including The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Rotary Music Festival, and most recently serving for many years as the secretary/treasurer of the Cardston and District Seniors Society. She made many lifelong friends there and regularly participated in Tuesday night Rook, lawn bowling, and the Alberta Seniors Summer Games. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. Marelyn loved to travel and took many trips and cruises around the world with her husband, Heber. Her greatest love was her family, and she cherished time spent with them. Favorite times with family were spent camping at Yellow Bay, watching kids play sports, and gathering at the cabin at the hills. In more recent years, she moved to the Chinook Lodge and appreciated the friendships fostered there. Marelyn was fully dedicated to her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Clark, Dr. Low, and to the caregivers at the Chinook and Lee Crest who showed her so much compassion.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Centre, (338 5th Ave. E., Cardston, AB) on Monday, April 1st, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
