It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Isabelle Maureen Wiltse (nee McKinnon). Maureen (or Moe, as she was usually called) was born in Salmon Arm, BC on March 2, 1934 and passed away July 1, 2026, in Cardston, AB. She goes to join her beloved husband, Charles Robert (Bob), who passed away December 30, 2025.
Maureen was predeceased by her daughter Colleen, parents Angus and Martha McKinnon, and by her siblings Walter (Florence) McErvel, Kathleen (Jim) Presley, Robb (Belva) Mackinnen, and Colleen (Freddy) Fredrickson. Maureen loved her family deeply and leaves to mourn: her children, Joanne Hlina of Vernon, BC; James (Colleen) Wiltse of Kanata, ON; Steven (Sally) Wiltse of Gainford, AB; Patrick (Lisa) Wiltse of Cardston, AB; Karen Wiltse of Cardston, AB; 17 grand-children and 19 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Maureen had a wonderful sense of humour and a razor-sharp wit; she believed puns were the highest form of humour. She loved being with people and despite having poor health for much of her life, Maureen never complained and instead often uplifted those who came to comfort her.
She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing; musical sessions with Bob, Karen, and Pat playing guitars and everyone singing were frequent occurrences in their home. Badminton was a favourite sport that she shared with her children.
Maureen and Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and explored fishing lakes and forests all around BC and Alberta. She was an excellent cook and baker, and spent many summers and autumns preserving fruit, vegetables, meats, fish, and jams.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maureen was a dedicated missionary and loved to welcome people into the church. She loved to learn and especially loved teaching the gospel.
Special thanks go to the staff of Lee Crest Retirement Home who took such wonderful care of Maureen in her final days.

Service will be held at Temple Street Chapel, 355 3rd St. W., Cardston, AB, on Saturday, July 11 at 1:00 p.m. Read More
