It is with such heartbreaking news we announce the sudden passing of our Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunty,
IRMA WOLF CHILD “Ii tsists ainihki” on Sunday May 31st, 2020 at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta surrounded by loved ones. She was 69 years of age. Irma is survived by her loving Husband John Wolf Child; Children, Bobby, Malcolm (Melanie), Carla, Leslie (Shelayne), Lannie (Elliott), Larissa (Dillon); Step children, Cheryl Oka, Jonathon Oka (Joan); Grand Children, Austin, Madison, Kaomi, Cody, Ian, Andrew, Tylisha, Theo, Daymond, Keana, Elika, Lanaya, Zera, Achilles, Alexander, Nicolas; Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Deja, Zarianna, Kayzen; and numerous step grand children and great grand childre;. Goddaughters, Pam Healy, Cindy Sitting Eagle, Tamara Many Shots.
Irma is also survived by Sisters, Claudia (Joe) Patrick, Melvina (Clifford) Healy, Francine Big Tobacco, Jocelyn (Troy) Big Tobacco; Brothers, Frank Big Tobacco, Ivan (Valerie) McMaster. Irma adopted numerous children/grand children she raised and loved as her own.
Irma was born at the Blackfoot Indian Hospital on Siksika Nation on May 31st, 1951 to Frances Big Tobacco and Edna Fox.
Irma received her education at the Crowfoot Indian Residential School, Victoria School in BC, Lethbridge Community College satellite campus in Cardston, and later attended Red Crow Community College where she received her High School Diploma. She worked very hard and would often stay up late finishing assignments. Irma was very thankful for her upbringing; she said it made her the strong, tough loving, and caring person she was. She would often talk about back home (Siksika) riding horses with her brothers or playing with paper dolls with her sisters. She loved her siblings dearly. Irma met the Love of her life in the spring of “1979”. They married on May 2, 1998. She worked for Alberta Foster Parent Association for over 25 years, and in 2001, she was recognized for her Understanding and Dedication to Children in care. Irma worked at an antique store in Cardston and took great pride in her job. Irma was a dedicated Mother and Wife; she treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Gramma. She was our biggest cheerleader and supported us in everything we did. She loved her many travels to Pow-Wows and Hand games throughout Canada and the United States. Irma enjoyed camping, sewing, beading, picking Saskatoon berries and mint. However, she loved to pick sweet grass with her Husband and they would often reminisce about the olden days. Irma made the best Berry soup and Fry bread. She loved to talk on the phone and checked up on family and friends often, she could talk for hours. She took pride in our Traditional and Cultural way of life. Irma was a Horn Society Member twice, helped her children and husband who were in the Brave Dog Society, and a strong Catholic. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Irma encouraged all whom she loved and made friends everywhere she went. Irma loved her Husband and he always made sure she had everything. She was our Rock and the one we lean on. Forever remembered by her loud laugh, sense of humour, beautiful smile and most of all by her Husband. She cared and loved for each and every person in her life.
Irma was Predeceased by Parents Frances Big Tobacco and Edna Fox; Brothers, Joseph and Jeffrey; Sisters, Joyce Big Tobacco, Rena Maguire, Delia White Eagle, Anne Many Heads; and Grandson, Chase Big Tobacco
Extended families include the Many Guns, Scalp Locks, Red Guns, Rabbit Carriers, Bull Bears, Cutmanes, Hindbulls, Foxs, Yellow Flys, Ayoungmans.

A Wake Service will be held at the John and Irma Wolf Child residence, Blood Reserve on Monday, June 8th at 6:00 p.m continuing all night.
