REED HOLT ZEMP, beloved husband of Marie Dahl Zemp, passed away peacefully at Cardston AB, on Monday March 7, at the age of 88 years. Born in Raymond AB on October 11, 1927, he was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings, he being the youngest in his family.
He is survived by his wife Marie Dahl Zemp, children: Karen Chipman (Robin), Kathy Meyer (Glen), Logan Zemp (Cyndy), Gary Zemp (Lynn Marie), Dal Zemp (Amy), Marilyn Lathen (Larry) and Kevin Zemp (Janni) as well as 35 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.
He lived a happy life full of service to family, church and community. He taught for many years at the Cardston High School and also served on Town Council for eight years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout his life. Church service included working in many capacities including a mission to Montreal in his youth and later, after retirement, to Zimbabwe with his dear wife. His continuous church service also included many teaching positions, Bishop, and High Councillor.
Temple service was a big part of his life as he spent 22 years as a temple worker, including 10 years as a sealer. For three years he was a member of the Temple Presidency.
He leaves behind a legacy of fun, kindness and faith. Many have received counsel, directions, and blessings from this devoted servant of the Master.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home, on Friday, March 11th, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. or at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,Cardston Alberta Stake Center on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Aetna Cemetery.
