THORA BROADBENT ZEMP, of Cardston Alberta, Canada passed from this life’s journey January 14th, 2023. Our amazing mother has joyfully reunited with her parents, sisters, brothers and grandson Zachary. Thora was born on April 11th, 1938, in Cardston, Alberta, to William and Emma Broadbent. She was the ninth of 10 children and was raised in Leavitt, Alberta on a farm creating life long memories with her siblings. She lived on the farm till she was 15. Mom met her future husband Allan Leon Zemp at a toboggan party at the farm, after a while they started dating for seven years and married June 19th, 1957.
Thora loved documenting life events and keeping a journal and continually encouraged all of her family to keep a journal. She loved to travel and spending time with family and friends, caring and loving others was her life’s passion. Thora worked at Sears for 25 years, she said it was to keep her out of mischief.
She is predeceased by her parents William and Emma, brothers Delwyn (Melba), Charles (Viola), Keith and Bill, sisters Eda (Dahl Leavitt), Joyce (Lervae Cahoon), Fay (LaVont Marsden), Shirley (Weldon Sillito), Lorna (David Hatch) and grandson Zachary Dean Nelson. She is survived by her Loving husband Allan Leon Zemp and children: Rick (Brenda), Terry (Kathy), Teresa, Debbie (Gary) and Troy (Shannon). She is also survived by her 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren with another on the way to make 28.
We love you mom and will miss you dearly, we thank you for the amazing example of love. Our mom made sure we always knew how much she loved us. She reminded us every day how important we were to her. We knew she loved, because she took the time to tell us. Our mother was an incredible mom, grandmother, sister and friend! We feel very lucky to have had her in our lives. We would like to express our gratitude for her and for everything she did for us, we will miss you mom.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, Cardston, AB., on Monday, January 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held in the Leavitt Cemetery, Leavitt. AB.
