It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Jordan Chief Moon Sr.,who went home to be with Creator and his beloved wife Rosetta on Sunday October 3rd,2021 at the age of 75yrs.
Jordan is predeceased by Parents Dan and Philomena Chief Moon Sr.,wife Rosetta Scout, children Melody Jolane, Kristian and Simon. Brothers Gus, Wilfred “Ike”, Daniel,Horace and Burton, sisters Delphine and Elaine. Sister-in-law Delma(Brave Rock) Chief Moon In-laws Ben and Sarah Scout Sr.,brother-in-laws Ken, Martin and Benedict Jr. Scout, sister-in-law’s Victoria, Freda and Alma(Spear Chief) Scout.
Jordan was born July 14th,1946 at Blood Indian Hospital on the Blood Reserve. He is the direct descendant of “Chief Red Crow”and Fish Eaters Clan. And lifetime member of the Horns Society.
Raised and lived in the Chief Moon Valley most of his life. He Attended school in Cardston, St. Paul’s Residential school, Culinary Arts in Calgary and NAIT. Where he learned his lifetime trade and became one of two Plumbers on the reserve at that time. He worked at Kainai Industries and installed the plumbing for each house. Jordan also did farming for Yack Heninger and drove the Swather machine. He did this for many years. As long as we can remember, Jordan always worked and provided for his family. He was such a hard worker and loved working on cars with his brother Gus. Together these two could put a vehicle together in 2 days. He had so many jobs and talents that we lost track of all the things he can do. One of the loves of his life
Jordan was born a redhead which stood straight up, his brothers affectionately called him “Porcupine.” To this day his big brother Ed still called him that. Growing up Jordan and his brothers would help support the family by hunting, trapping and fishing. This was not only a way of life but also it formed that special bond between him and his brothers. They were all often found playing sports. Hockey was a natural thing for him. He was “fast and hard to catch on the ice” as everyone would say about him. He loved to play hockey and loved the sport of boxing as well.
Jordan’s other love was music. He loved to play bass guitar and would travel with the local Gospel bands like “Life in the Spirit” where these tours took him all over Alberta, BC, NWT, and Seattle and Spokane, Washington and may other places. He was very well travelled man where he would make lifelong lasting friendships.
Jordan supported all walks of life. He was so easy to talk to and everyone loved him.
Once Jordan became a young man-with one look, he fell madly in love with the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, the love his life Rosetta. He rode up to Fish Creek and whisked her away, with Ben and Sarah chasing them down the road, yelling out,”Rosetta!!!! Come back!” Which she never did. So They rode off into the sunset and together they had 6 beautiful children and raised their granddaughters as their own.
Jordan loved all his kids with every ounce of his being. He would do anything and everything for kids just so that they would have what they wanted. He was the greatest and BEST Dad in the world. His heart was the biggest of them all, that’s so so many are able to call him Dad, Uncle, Grampa and Friend. He and Rosetta opened their home to so many others, and along the way have raised so many other children. We all felt the safest with Dad Jordan around. If he was there, we always knew everything was going to be ok. The one thing he truly loves was to teach all his daughters to box, telling them to “learn to stand of up for yourself!”and us girls would endure dad’s special “father/daughter boot camp” which consisted of ducking and being shown how “to be fast on your feet and keep your head tucked, fists in front of your face and arms close to your rib cage to avoid getting knocked down.” His daughters cherished all the beautiful memories we have of Dad Jordan. Especially when he learned his Baby girl Arlene was a “lefty.” Teaching Arlene how to box “the right way, not backwards Maa’sta’kii cuz you’re left handed,” as he would say, this brought so much joy for him because he said he had mostly daughters. Dad made each one of us feel like we were the “favourite.” We will miss you immensely Dad.
Jordan had the biggest heart as everyone Jordan supported all walks of life. He was so easy to talk to and everyone loved him. Of the family but we all were. He never left out anyone. He also taught us to never hold a grudge and would always teach his children to forgive and forget. This valuable lesson is still instilled in his daughters to this day as they carry on his legacy. Dad was our biggest provider and protector and our number one teacher. We will forever miss Dad. We are all very lucky to have had Dad Jordan in our lives for this long. He would want all of us to never forget what he was- husband, dad and friend…and to always keep praying.
Jordan is survived by his daughters Lenora, Kim(Guy Supernault), Arlene(Todd Soup), Chantal, Nitasha(Nicholas Many Fingers) and Tyne(Cyrus Weasel Fat). Brothers John Sr., Edward (Elaine), Keith(Karen) Chief Moon. Sisters Virginia Czmadia (Tony), Bertha Chief Moon. Sisters -in-law Myrna Chief Moon. Sister-in-law Rose Ann (Justin Yellow Horn), Brothers-in-law Lavern(Anne), Charlie Scout. Goddaughter Sonya Scout(Brooker Yellow Horn). Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and several adopted sons and daughters, to numerous to name.
